Mastercoach Arik Shivek brought Amsterdam Astronauts major successes between 2003 and 2009, including three championships and two European quarter-finals. After reflecting on that period, he explains there was a five-year-plan, inspired by that of Bayern Munich, to bring Amsterdam to EuroLeague level. The 2008 financial crisis put that plan on hold.
