AMC reported Q4 earnings today and we take a look at how bad things have gotten for the company from a financial perspective. It’s important to analyze companies like this from a cash flow (burn) perspective, since its likely the company will continue to blow through cash as it recovers from the virus. There’s actually a few things going on with AMC - the company’s wrapped up in the Wall Street Bets hype train - and therefore it’s tough to predict what could happen with this stock. That’s why it’s important to have a plan when you buy a stock like AMC - because it can go a number of different ways. From a fundamental/financials perspective - the company is a complete mess - which is why short sellers have been feasting on the stock. However, from a technical perspective - it’s actually not too bad, and if you are a disciplined trader - there’s likely money to be made here. From a valuation perspective - it likely hinges on AMC raising more money - and if they can do that … the company can probably come out the other end with a reasonable valuation, and a sector of the economy that many folks will be looking forward to getting into when things are better. It’s an interesting stock, with lots of twists and turns - if you play this one right, I think there’s money to be made.
