📖 Chapter 3: Noctoyager Act 2 — Story Synopsis
🧒 1. The Lost Child

This quest kicks off Chapter 3. After regaining consciousness from a previous attack, the protagonist (the Phoxhunter) learns from Camilla and others that there have been a string of mysterious murders dubbed the Charon Hunt. Rhythm, an Escort investigating the case, recruits you to help solve it. You follow clues from the scene of the crime — damaged weathervanes, eerie singing, phoxicor traces — and interview theatre staff before deducing the assailant fled toward Mist Aken. A frightened fisherman tells you the monster that attacked him came from the sewers, setting the stage for the next quest.

👤 2. Shadows of Dread

You descend into the sewers to pursue the perpetrator behind the murders. Along the way, you rescue trapped civilians from filthoid creatures and navigate wastewater chambers. The trail ends at the bottom of the depths with a confrontation against the creature responsible for the attack — a powerful foe linked to the Charon Hunt. Defeating it completes the pursuit and hints at a deeper threat lurking below the city.

With Rhythm injured, you visit her in the Legion Medical Centre. She asks for your help one final time to retrieve a silver seal from the Fischers’ secret base — an item she needs to write letters that might assist in your larger search (including for a key missing person, Berenica). You search various clues and return the seal to her bedside, strengthening your bond and setting up personal stakes beyond the immediate threat.

The city faces harsh winter conditions, and you’re tasked with speaking to Lynn and finding Clive — a 13th Legion officer — who assigns further investigation into the sewer incidents. Rhythm, you, and others work through environmental hazards and more filthoid dangers, drain wastewater, and investigate deeper chambers. Along the way, you battle the Perpetrator again and piece together clues, such as the strange singing voice — eventually tying the case to an opera-like song. Rhythm performs this tune, prompting another appearance by the enemy, teasing both danger and connection.

This chapter takes a dramatic turn: you briefly play as Subject 47, the creature tied to the sewer attacks. Here you fight waves of filthoids and Elysian soldiers, then take on powerful foes like The Devourer and Subject 36. After escaping the Alchemy Academy and facing off against both Forsaken operatives and Legion troops, the narrative tension spikes, revealing deeper conspiracies surrounding the filthoid scourge and the fractured factions inside the city.

🎭 6. Heart of Innocence

Back in the present storyline, you assume the role of Phantasio for a final performance, which serves both as a narrative and symbolic climax. This culminates in a dramatic battle against the Beast from the Snowfield, tying emotional threads together — especially its connection to Phantasio, Subject 36, and the themes of innocence and memory intertwined in the opera Children From the Snowfield.

🎶 7. Requiem for the Nameless

This concluding quest wraps up the chapter’s emotional and plot arcs. You find Rhythm at the city gates. She shares new intel: a prisoner transfer from Icelake to Dismania scheduled in a month, and the description matches Berenica, someone of significant importance to the overarching story.
