National Parks are the areas that are designated by the government to conserve the natural environment of the area. The Kaziranga National Park is one of the important wildlife reserves in India.
1985 UNESCO declared Kaziranga National Park as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Apart from one-horned rhinoceros with a population of 2613 as on March, 2022, the park is the breeding ground of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer.
Over the time, the tiger population has also increased in Kaziranga, and that’s the reason why Kaziranga was declared as Tiger Reserve in 2006.
It is also an important Bird Sanctuary.
The Kaziranga National Park is about 180 km from Maa Kamakhya Temple, Guwahati.
