This month's cosplay music video is a collaboration with special guest Oakley Does Everything! We started planning this a couple of months ago & we're super excited to finally share the results. You can check out & subscribe to Oakley's channel here:    / @oakleydoeseverything6438  

We chose "Broken" by Seether & Amy Lee for our characters, Jaune Arc & Pyrrha Nikos from RWBY, because we thought it really captured Jaune's feelings over Pyrrha's death. So we used the video to tell the story of Jaune remembering Pyrrha & dealing with all the sadness & anger that bubbles up as a result. (Oakley & I live in different states/time zones, so using this concept for the video also helped make our separate shooting locations work together for the final piece.)

This song was a fun challenge for us musically, as well. Oakley played the guitar & sang Jaune's vocals on the track, while I played the piano & sang Pyrrha's vocals. Just like the video footage, all of our audio was recorded separately and then edited together. It took a lot of coordination, but we're happy with the way things turned out! The lines of dialogue we included come from volume 4 episode 2 (where Jaune is replaying the recording of Pyrrha while training in the woods) and volume 5 episode (where Jaune confronts Cinder about the lives she's taken). We felt like Jaune's dialogue is especially relevant to the problems that have risen to the forefront in the US right now. We're currently pushing for changes to dismantle the racism (and other intersecting issues such as queerphobia/transphobia, misogyny, ableism, and many more) that has led to the deaths of many black people in our country. We considered postponing this video and our other related video projects given the current climate, but decided to post it now because its overall message (particularly Jaune's message to Cinder) points to the fact that we are truly dealing with a broken system and need to fix it. We are using our social media platforms to speak out and keep others informed on these issues and will continue to do so.
