Description:- Here, the idol of Lord Vishnu is depicted in a reclining posture on 11-headed Adishesha, which appears to float on the lake. With four hands holding the Sudarshana Chakra, conch, lotus, and mace, it gives the impression of Vishnu resting on the Milky Ocean. This idol is considered the largest stone sculpture in Nepal.
Currently known as ‘Buddha Nilakantha’, the deity’s original name is said to be ‘Bhujagashayana’ or ‘Jalashayana Narayana’, as per locals. Devotees believe that those who witness this deity will attain Vaikuntha (Vishnu’s abode) by the grace of Lord Vishnu.
