Chen style Moving Step Push Hands (活步推手) is one of the five major Chen style push hands patterns to train agility, timing and positioning besides developing the eight primary Taiji energies- peng "to expand, maintain", lu "redirect, deflect to the side", ji "press forward", an "press downward".

This pattern also set up the potential application of cai "pluck and pull down", lie "split", zhou "elbow strike", and kao "leaning strike", and develops the four critical push hands energies - zhan "contact", lian "connect", nian "stick", sui "follow". Master Chen Qingzhou’s LaoJia curriculum emphasizes the importance of this particular pattern.

In this video, Master Tony Wong and his senior student, Tony Relator demonstrate the general moving steps push hands.
