Abstract: A Getting Started Guide for Developers Using the Puppet Forge and Vagrant. A demo of a basic Puppet client and server setup. Then using Vagrant's integration with Puppet, how to build a working mysql deployment with a small web app on a couple of nodes (e.g. A haproxy, message broker, etc)

Speaker Bio: Erica Mitchell is a Software Developer working for NewBay Software based out of Dublin Ireland. NewBay delivers cloud-based RESTful and client services to enable operators and device makers to deliver a lifetime of digital content experiences across connected devices such as mobiles, PCs, tablets and TVs. Erica joined the NewBay Product Engineering team in 2010 and as her first assignment, she lead the setup of a whitelabel end-to-end lab with the remit to setup a continuous delivery process for integration, deployment and testing of multiple instances of the NewBay product suite over multiple blades and VM's, using Apache for load balancing -- this resulted in early identification of bugs and integration issues to feedback into the development and operations processes and to generally highlight the benefits of continuous delivery. Based on the success of this initiative, Erica went on to support daily deployments to development, sales demo and test environments, subsequently preparing the grids / overlays and creating deployment artefacts for deployment engineers for staging and production environments. Erica also works as a server-side Java/Groovy developer and Scrum Master within the Social Networking Gateway team, which integrates with Social Networks for storing, sharing, accessing and organizing digital content, and successfully augmented the legacy ant build automation system using Gradle. Before her time in NewBay, Erica previously worked as an Eclipse Plugin Developer for Iona Software/Progress Software, and as a Java UI Developer for Logica Mobile Networks. A keen advocate and fundraiser for Arthritis Ireland, @Arthritisie Erica also loves books and baking.
