Women's underwear, including lingerie, is now back on sale in Mosul after the city was liberated from the Islamic State (IS) group.
Underwear shopping was severely restricted for women under IS occupation.
STORYLINE
Lingerie and women's underwear is now back on the shelves at this Iraqi marketplace.
During IS occupation, the display of lingerie was banned and women were not allowed to buy any underwear in shops that were run by men.
"There was a woman selling it in a shop. But we were afraid, we'd just buy and leave. We were afraid that she might be with Daesh (Islamic State group), you don't know her, you can't see her. All we'd do is ask, how much is this, how much is that, buy and then leave," says shopper Umm Safa.
But things are now returning to normal as the city remains under government control.
Safa says many women were too scared to leave the house because IS men would police what they were wearing.
"Imagine, one day I came out of the house wearing trousers under the abaya. And he stopped me and asked me, why do you have trousers under the abaya? Imagine that, they had got to the point where they were checking women from the top of their head to their toes."
Women were told to always dress with their hair, face and hands covered and not to leave the house without a male relative.
Another shopper, Tayma Mohammed says women ended up making do with their old underwear because of the restrictions.
Shopping for makeup was just as difficult, as shopper Umm Mohammed explains: "Once I went to a shop to buy makeup and it turned out that the seller was a Daeshi woman, and I exposed my face, assuming that we were between women and we could uncover."
"And she interrogated me and reported me to the Daeshis outside and he asked my husband for his ID so that he can punish him," she says.
Even female mannequins displaying clothing were eventually banned.
Shoppers and shopkeepers in the city are now making the most of the return of their freedom.
