Within hours of Hong Kong's handover to China, pro-democracy
demonstrators were out on the streets protesting. About 2,000 marchers challenged the Chinese-installed government on its first day in office on Tuesday (1/7), with a noisy protest calling for democracy for Hong Kong and the rest of China. Protestors braved torrential rain to listen to speeches by pro-democracy leaders, including ousted legislator Martin Lee.
