Phenomenology and the Nature of Love

The phenomenologists were a great assist to philosophy through their defense of the A Priori Synthetic and their unique method of studying the conscious subject. Even so, perhaps one of their greatest contributions as a whole school that often goes overlooked is their philosophy of love. Their contributions led to understanding the dignity of love not only as a value-response, but an affective response. In this way, one can say that the phenomenologists were great defenders of the spiritual nature of emotions and helped contribute to an understanding of love as a spiritual emotion.
