Waste to Energy Plant Ghazipur

The Waste to Energy plant, Ghazipur set up by IL&FS Environment on a Public Private Partnership framework is a path breaking initiative. A Euro norm compliant, first plant in the Country, it provides a scientific solution to address the dumping of waste at Ghazipur. The plant has a built capability to process 2000 tons per day and generate 12 MW of Green Power to address East Delhi’s growing waste.

To mainstream waste picker families, IL&FS is providing skill training in addition to providing jobs in the plant. This support through GULMEHER is also helping them with functional literacy and financial inclusion. These efforts have transformed the lives of the ragpickers and converted them to skilled entrepreneurs and provided a replicable model for rehabilitating ragpickers across dumpsites in the Country.
