The upbound ALGOMA TRANSPORT is seen on the Welland Canal, Dec.24, 2023. She is being raised inside Lock 4W, and then departs directly into Lock 5W. She is bound for Duluth with cargo. This ship is scheduled to be scrapped in early Jan. 2024, so this is her second-to-last ever upbound trip on the Welland Canal. After unloading in Duluth, she will pick up another load destined for Hamilton, Ontario, and head downbound, passing through the Welland Canal at some point in Jan.2024 to get to Hamilton. There, she will unload her final cargo, sail back to the Welland Canal, and head upbound to reach Port Colborne, where she is scheduled to join the scrap line.
