This method is what I use when comparing attack from different equipments, xtals or als. Exclusively between items that only give raw attack and atk% bonus. Multiplier like crit, elemental and melee boost is another story to tell.

Total Base is basically the summation of all the raw attack you get from your stats, gears, apostolia, relic, class job bonus and skill mastery. Forgot to include stats in the video so I just leave it here.
