The signs point to Rock!

It seems obvious to begin the description of this sensational re-issue from the Gibson Custom Shop with the Murphy Lab Aging. The fact is that the founding of the Murphy Lab in the Gibson Custom Shop in 2019 raised all guitar aging processes to a new level of quality under the leadership of aging guru and Master Artisan Tom Murphy. This Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Junior 1960 DC Re-Issue received an extraordinary Murphy Lab "Ultra Heavy Aging" with precisely matching hardware aging, which gives the authentic impression of a guitar that has spent decades on stage and in the studio. A rocked workhorse that has thrilled its audience thousands of times and has absorbed the earthy Blues/Rock into every fiber of its wood. A guitar that just sounds really good because of it! A guitar that you can play straight away with a lot of emotion and enthusiasm, without worrying about whether you will give it a dent with your belt buckle. No, she definitely won't hold it against you! And finally, a guitar that makes you feel good right away, so you never want to let it out of your hands.

One pickup ... but with a distinctive sound!

Briefly about the history of this guitar icon from the Golden Age of Gibson. In 1958, the Les Paul Junior Single Cutaway was replaced by the new Double Cut version (in short "DC"). As with its historical model, a single Custom Dog-Ear P-90 pickup was used in the Custom Shop Les Paul Junior 1960 DC Re-Issue. But what a pickup! An old saying goes: "You need ONE really good sound, nothing more!" The Gibson Custom Dog-Ear P-90 installed on this Les Paul Junior DC offers just the right amount of crunch and fat sound – more snappy than a single coil, but not as queasy as a humbucker. It gets through in the band's texture exceptionally well, which is why it's been used in Blues and Rock music by many well-known artists.

Materials only of the finest quality!

As usual, only strictly selected tonewoods were used for this noble Custom Shop Les Paul Junior 1960 DC Re-Issue. The "1-Pc." body made of mahogany and a matching "1-pc." mahogany neck with dark rosewood fingerboard are the basis for a good response. The slim taper neck corresponds to a very early 1960's profile, but this is basically a '59 neck. The original wraparound bridge was fitted with two set screws, which now allows accurate intonation adjustment – an extremely useful update! Such a wraparound bridge system is also a guarantee for a direct response, lots of sustain and dynamics without end.
