If you are playing in a cover band chances are high that this song appears on the setlist. The song seems to be very easy at first, because it repeats the same three chords over and over again through the whole song. But the main challenge with songs that are built around repetetive chord changes is to keep the bassline interesting. This original bassline is a perfect example on how to do this.
When you only have three chords the best way to find an interesting bassline is through rhythmic variations. Here a very common rhythmic concept is applied concerning the overall structure of the song. The main rhythms of the verse and the chorus are discernible different with lesser and longer notes during the verses (providing a rather calm mood) and more shorter notes in the chorus (what gives it more density and more energy).
Unfortunately I don't know who played on the original recording, but this bassline is a excellent example on how to deal with songs that have the same chords for verses and choruses.
