This footage documents our morning tour of The Tank Museum. During the morning we visited The Discovery Centre which includes various other smaller exhibitions as well as a wide variety of tanks and military vehicles. We also had an opportunity to witness The Conservation Centre where the museum work to restore tanks back to their former glory. We hope you all enjoy our experience.

The Tank Museum Summary:

The Team at Hidden History headed out to The Tank Museum today for a very special look at these military treasures. This was the perfect opportunity to witness the many different types of tank spanning across various periods of history. We started our day very early as we headed from Kent to Dorset on a 3.5 hour drive.

After arriving at our destination it was quite strange to locate the museum in amongst a still operational military camp. When we arrived at The Tank Museum we headed for the first area entitled The Discovery Centre which houses a mixture of military tanks from World War II through to the present day. Within The Discovery Centre is also various smaller exhibitions such as The Tiger Tank Exhibition and The Fury Exhibition. We started by making our way around the tanks completely overwhelmed by the diversity of different military tanks and vehicles and totally spoilt for choice. Eventually we came across The Fury Exhibition which was focused around the hit movie as well as various film props and scripts on display. The biggest highlight of the exhibition was actually the M4A2 Sherman Tank that was used during the final crossroad scenes of the film. It was such an honour to witness this exhibit and a nice touch to the musuem overall. Next we headed to the Tiger Tank Exhibition which was exclusive for 2017 and housed a complete collection of Tiger Tanks into one room. This exhibit had to be one of my favourite as not only do I love German Tanks but to have 5 Tiger Tanks under one hangar was just simply beautiful.

At this point we decided to grab some lunch before heading over to The Conservation Centre and the second half of the museum entitled 'The Tank Story.

Next we headed to The Conservation Centre where the museum work hard to restore tanks and military vehicles they have aquired across the world. It was breathtaking to witness a huge warehouse packed full of military treasures and evidently plenty of restoration projects underway. This was certainly an honour to witness plenty of Hidden History inside one warehouse. Our last stop was inside the other side of the museum of an exhibit entitled 'The Tank Story'. This extremely large exhibit tells the story of the tank all the way from the very first example known as Little Willie in 1915 right through to the more modern day Challenger II. Starting from The Great War and walking through the exhibit it felt as if I was walking through history itself. The exhibit was incredibly spacious with plenty to see and learn and housed full of tanks spanning across the many conflicts of the past.

Overall the trip to The Tank Museum was incredible and a superb opportunity to witness these military tanks in all their glory. It was also great to capture plenty of photographs and videos throughout the day and we hope you all enjoy experience.

The Tank Museum is a highly recommended visit for anybody with an interest in military history. If ever your in the Dorset area of the United Kingdom then be sure to visit the museum for a truly overwhelming experience.
