"Simpatia" is a word with different meanings in Brazil. On the one hand, it stands for "affection" and "friendliness", and describes a personality trait that is highly valued by Brazilians. On the other hand, it describes a popular magical ritual beyond religious beliefs.

In my "Simpatia" I connect the past and the future as well as Germany and Brazil. I invoke the power of the four elements - air, water, fire and earth - and the versatility of the viola da gamba: the program includes pieces for viol consort, chamber music and solo viola by composers from England, Italy, France, Germany and Brazil.

The structure of the program is narrative and reflects my time in Bremen. William Lawe's dissonant and surprising polyphony represents the wealth of languages and cultures that I encountered when I started studying in one of the best viola da gamba classes in Europe in 2019. The solo pieces reflect the loneliness and feeling of hopelessness during the Covid-19 pandemic. My arrangement of "Água e Vinho" was created during this time. The compositions by Telemann and Marais embody the joy of collective music-making after the pandemic. The final songs symbolize my desire to unite everything I learned while studying in Germany with my Brazilian roots.
