The Supreme Court on Friday temporarily stayed a ruling from a lower court that would have required the government to pay out November SNAP benefits in full.

The move is the latest in a back-and-forth case between the Trump administration and the courts, which escalated this week when a federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the administration to restore full SNAP benefits, calling an earlier plan to distribute only partial payments “arbitrary and capricious.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) on Friday called a Democrat proposal to reopen the government a "non-starter," setting up continued gridlock on Capitol Hill as the government shutdown approaches 39 days long.

Senate Democrats on Friday unveiled a new proposal to reopen the government that would have passed a clean short-term funding bill while negotiations continue on a bipartisan spending package, but it did not pass.

And flights at 40 major airports are on the chopping block, starting Friday.

The FAA has ordered flight reductions to start at 4%, which will impact hundreds of flights.

That proportion is supposed to rise to 6% on Tuesday, 8% on Thursday and 10% by the end of next week.
