এবার পৃথিবী ধ্বংস হতে পারে বলে খবর দিয়েছে মার্কিন গবেষণা সংস্থা –নাসা। এই খবর ইন্টারনেটে ছড়িয়ে পড়ায় আতঙ্ক তৈরি হয়েছে মানুষের মাঝে। নাসা বলছে মহাকাশে একটি গ্রহাণু পৃথিবীতে আছড়ে পড়তে পারে। তা ঘটলে কয়েক মুহূর্তে ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে মানবসভ্যতা।

একটি বৃহৎ গ্রহাণু পৃথিবীকে ধাক্কা দিতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছে মার্কিন মহাকাশ গবেষণা সংস্থা নাসা। আর তাতেই উদ্বেগ বেড়েছে সবার। এই গ্রহাণুটিকে পিজেড৩৯ হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে।

নাসা সূত্র বলছে, ৩ হাজার ২৫০ ফুট উচ্চতার এই গ্রহাণু আয়তনে ৪ কিলোমিটার। যা মানুষের তৈরি যে কোনও কিছুর থেকে বড় এই গ্রহাণু। ঘণ্টায় ৩৪ হাজার মাইল গতিবেগে পৃথিবীর দিকে ছুটে আসছে। সূর্যকে প্রদক্ষিণ করার সময় পৃথিবীর অত্যন্ত কাছাকাছি এসে পড়বে। এই গতিতে এগিয়ে আসতে থাকলে ২৯ এপ্রিল পৃথিবীর খুব কাছা-কাছি চলে আসবে গ্রহাণুটি। কোনওভাবে পৃথিবীর সঙ্গে সংঘর্ষ হলে গোটা মানবসভ্যতা কয়েক সেকেন্ডে ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে বলে জানিয়েছে নাসা।
