STUDY 16.

TOPIC: WALKING.IN THE SPIRIT (NKJV).

TEXT: Gal.5:16-26.

INTRODUCTION:
The Galatian Christians
were instructed by Paul to be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit, so that they would not satisfy the desires of their sinful nature, but live to please God.

LESSON:

IF YOU ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT TO TEACH YOU AND CONTROL YOUR LIFE, YOU WILL LIVE ABOVE SIN AND WILL NOT HAVE CONFLICT WITH THE LAW.

EXPLANATION OF THE LESSON:
The Holy Spirit and the Devil work through your desires to fulfill their purpose for you, thereby creating a conflict in your choice (Gal.5:16).

For example, the Devil will want you to satisfy your sinful nature and make that desire to overwhelm your mind. On the contrary, the Holy Spirit fills your heart with the fruit of the Spirit, which controls your desires by manifesting Christ's righteousness in you.

Therefore, if you are led by the Holy Spirit, your choice will be to please God, rather than Devil, and you will overcome your sinful desires (Gal.5:17-18).

This is because the Holy Spirit trains you with the scriptures (1John2: 27) and if you are obedient to Him, He produces in you the character of Christ, namely love, joy, peace, patience, etc (Gal.5:22-23).

Above all, the Holy Spirit gives you freedom from all demonic oppressions and breaks all curses working against you (2Cor.3:17, Num
23:23). The Spirit also helps you to serve God in holiness and righteousness with divine authority (Luke 1:74-75).

But if you choose to satisfy your sinful desires, then the Devil will win over your heart. He will teach you his character and produce in you the life of sexual immorality, idolatry, jealousy, quarrelling, etc. (Gal.5:19-20). The result is that destruction follows you and you will not inherit eternal life (Gal.5:21). So learn to follow Christ before it becomes late.

In conclusion, you are the author of your destiny. What you are depends upon the choice you have made.

PRAYERS:
(i) Thank God for teaching you the truth.
(ii) Pray to make obedience to Christ your choice in life.
(iii) Ask God your other needs and thank Him for answering your prayer.
