Women are amazing. They are beyond powerful and capable and it’s a pleasure to show them that. The Midwives of New Jersey are the experts in water birth. Like that’s our thing. And that’s what Hoboken is doing is they’re bringing water birth to this area. Women report 50 percent less pain when they get into the water. The water hydrostatic pressure actually pushes on them and makes them feel held. So they are incredibly mobile and they’re buoyant. Women are in hospital beds and can’t move. I’m like move, and I push them onto their side and I’m like pushing with all my might and they’re trying to help me, I mean it’s not like they’re just laying there. In the water they just move around. Well, women left to their own devices will almost always choose to lean forward in the tub, you know laying like this. This is the physiologic position for birth. And women just know to do it. They feel it’s right. It’s just what I feel like I should be doing. A lot of times the baby just comes. It’s kind of remarkable actually, how they just have the baby. Small, little things, make a huge difference in women’s ability to give birth. And CarePoint really is on the cutting edge of it. Particularly in this area. Hard to find. Women have a hard time finding anybody who will do anything like this.
