A lovely 20 minute gentle walk around Stanground woods.

So either get your boots on (or wellies on depending on the weather as it’s muddy) ready to go, or stand up from the sofa and take a walk with us.

An area we’ve never been to, the lock, as you walk up, is a nice place to stop and take in your surroundings with lush green banks and the lock one side, the rushing water and views of the city on the other. You can even see the Cathedral in the distance.

You pass some out houses on the way up to the woods but we didn’t see the horses or the goats that the sign says live here. Neither did we spot any wildlife in the woods themselves, however on chatting with someone, they’d seen a couple of deer earlier this morning.

There’s not really much to see, just bare trees, twigs, oh and of course that huge bird nest!!! Or semi hideout for someone. 🙃 but it’s great being out in the fresh air and we’re sure it will be lovely in spring/summer when it’s all green and flowery.

We only did the woods on this walk here but there’s the beginning of the green wheel here too for a much longer walk along the river.
