Ukraine is preparing for a cold winter as Russia’s offensive against Ukrainian energy infrastructure intensifies. To help the war-ravaged country with the upcoming challenges, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced 35 billion euros in loans as part of the EU’s assistance package.

Emergency services across Poland are on high alert as the country continues to grapple with the catastrophic flooding. A special representative for flood recovery has been appointed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Kłodzko in south west Poland is cleaning up after the flood. According to eyewitnesses, water reached as high as 4 meters in parts of the city. The destruction is vast.
