http://www.folkonthefarm.co.uk Lammas is celebrated the world over as the start of the harvest. It eventually evolved into the Christian Harvest Festival which is held at the end of the harvest season. The first day of Lammas falls on the 1st August and the first corn taken from the new harvest was made into bread. This was eaten at a ritual ceremony in hopes of a bountiful harvest at the beginning of the season.
