The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival - Solo Performer Empowerment Day
The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival (LAWTF) is pleased to host its first annual "Empowerment Day," in association with the Fremont Centre Theatre (FCT) on November 16, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Fremont Centre Theatre, 1000 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena, California 91030. LAWTF has curated these diverse workshops and panels particularly for solo performers interested in furthering their careers.
These educational workshops and panels will include such topics as "Creating a Solo Show" "Nuts and Bolts of the Business" "How to Submit A Winning Package to a Solo Festival" "Flying Solo: Marketing a Solo Show" "Hit the Road With Your Solo Show" "Teamwork to Make the Dream Work" and "Working Women: Crafting a Solo Career."
LAWTF's professional line-up of accomplished moderators and panelists include actor Vanessa Adams Harris, writer/director Karen Aschenbach, actor/producer Adilah Barnes, publicist Lynne Conner, actor/director Starletta DuPois, dancer/choreographer Ingrid Graham, actor/director Iona Morris, actor/director Barbara Roberts, actor Clarinda Ross, director/marketing Shanae Sharon, dancer/choreographer Tracey Silver, director/dramaturg Terrie Silverman, publicist Phil Sokoloff, director Joseph Walsh, producer Elizabeth Wu and producer/director Yetta Young.
Founded in 1993, LAWTF holds the distinction of being the oldest Annual Solo Festival in Los Angeles celebrating powerful women performers. LAWTF is a critically-acclaimed international festival which has produced close to 500 extraordinary solo artists from around the globe. These multicultural and multi-disciplined artists represent such diverse disciplines as theatre, dance, storytelling, performance art, performance poetry, spoken word, mime, aerialism, music, song, and stand-up comedy.
