Belleville, IL is a small city just outside of St. Louis
Located 25 miles southeast of downtown St. Louis, Missouri, Belleville, Illinois is a city steeped in history, with one of the country’s longest continuous main streets. After the Civil War, Belleville developed into a manufacturing hub, earning the nickname “the stove capital of the world,” in the late 1800s. This increase in manufacturing efforts transformed the previously agricultural landscape of the town, and farmers began to take jobs in the coal industry after the discovery of multiple deposits in the area. Coal brought the railroad to Belleville, leading to a quick population increase in the late 19th century. Today, Belleville is home to 42,000 residents across its 23 square miles. Driving south of the city will take travelers past thousands of acres of open fields and farmland, while heading north brings them to the suburban streets of Fairview Heights.

Century-old colonials and fixer-uppers
The well-established housing scene brings a sense of nostalgia to Belleville’s residential streets.
