Who builds the fastest estate car around the infamous Nurburgring Nordschliefe test track? Audi or Mercedes? No, currently it's SEAT, with the Leon ST Cupra lapping the 13-mile loop in under eight minutes.

With 276bhp from its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a sports chassis with adjustable driving modes, it's not hard to see how it's so devastatingly quick. But, it's also a usable, comfortable family car.

Andy Goodwin spent a week with the car to see how it performed.
