As a creation of Ashnod, the Flesh Mechanist, this altar reflects her twisted experimentation during the Brothers’ War. She is called “Ashnod the Uncaring” for her willingness to treat flesh like clay. The flavor text on modern reprints drives home the macabre: “If you work at sawing up carcasses, you notice how the joints fit, how the nerves are arrayed, and how the skin peels back.” — a chilling peek into her brutal craft.
