Mercedes W210 Alcantara Headliner: Why The Original Material Fails + Removal and Installation

I documented my experience of the common issues that almost every Mercedes W210 will experience: the sagging headliner. They will fail due to the foam backing that attaches the fabric to the headliner board which is made out of fiberglass. Heat, age, and time will degrade the foam and cause the fabric to sag. The proper way to repair this is to remove the original material and clean the headliner board of the foam and to directly glue the new material to the board. This will decrease the overall thickness of the board slightly so the fitment may be altered. However it is a more permanent solution that reattaching the new material with foam. No W210's came with black headliner or Alcantara which the BMW E39 M5 did. If you have a black interior on your w210 and the budget redoing the headliner in the proper Anthracite/Charcoal Alcantara is the way to go in my opinion and that is what I did with my car. This was something that Renntech would do to their cars when a customer ordered interior work.
NOTE: I did not removal and reapply the material myself, I had a professional do it because I have little experience with that and wanted extremely good results and not trying to learn as I go on my headliner.

I show the proper way to prepare the headliner board for reattaching new material.
