Austin Loadstar RXX 905 Power 4 (P4) Built in 1955 and remained in service for 13 years with the BBC till 1968, until it was sold and the next owner removed the generator and the box body and converted into a dropside body flatbed.
In 2009 Brain and Barbara Morgan bought the unit for restoration. They found drawings for the original box body and made a replica. They did not restore the interior but use it as a day van.

All outside broadcast (OB) units needed electric power for cameras, picture monitors, sound systems,heating and cooling etc.
Power can come from the public mains supply which was often insufficient for TV production mobile generators can satisfy this requirement.

It was used for important national events, such as Sir Winston Churchills state funeral in 1965 and the England hosted FIFA World Cup football the following year.
This is the sole survivor of an original fleet of 10 vehicles.
