The eight bells hung in the church of St Peter & St Paul, in the Norfolk market town of Fakenham, are your typical 'old-style' octave. The treble and 2nd were cast in 1746 by Thomas Lester, the 3rd in 1891 by John Warner & Sons, the 4th in 1639 (the oldest bell in the ring) by an unidentified founder, the 5th (the youngest bell in the ring) in 1925 by Alfred Bowell, the 6th in 1669 by John Darbie, the 7th in 1792 by Thomas Osborn and the tenor in 1678 by Thomas Norris. The bells were last rehung 99 years ago, in 1925, by Alfred Bowell. During this work he recast the 5th bell and rehung the octave in a few cast iron & steel frame. The tenor weighs 19 and a half hundredweight and is tuned to the note of Eb.

Since 2020, the bells have not had any regular ringing on them. As a result, they are quite hard to ring and strike, but with a good band on them the bells really do sound quite nice for a mixed bag. Recorded during our spring tour to Norfolk in 2024.
