Welcome to Episode 18 of God-Free Bible Study — where we dig into the darker corners of the Bible that believers often skip, sanitize, or outright ignore.

In Exodus 21–22, God follows up the Ten Commandments not with compassion or moral clarity, but with a brutal legal code that reveals the true nature of this so-called “holy” system:

🔗 Slavery isn’t just allowed — it’s fully endorsed. God provides detailed instructions on how to turn temporary servants into permanent property, how to beat them, and what counts as acceptable abuse. Spoiler: A few days of survival means no punishment for the master.

💀 For most crimes — even minor ones — the solution is death. Theft, disrespect, adultery? Kill ’em. This isn't justice — it's divine overkill.

👶 Unborn children? Treated no differently than damaged property. A miscarriage gets a fine, not a funeral — offering a stark contrast to modern religious claims about "life at conception."

🐂 A bizarre amount of text is devoted to ox goring, as if the ancient world was overrun with killer livestock. Priorities, apparently.

🔥 Witch burning? Codified here. Exodus 22:18 plants the seed for centuries of executions, all sanctioned by these supposed “divine” rules.

🏛️ We're also told to blindly obey political leaders — a convenient command for those in power, and a chilling mandate for everyone else.

👶 And just in case things weren’t horrifying enough, God wraps it all up by demanding the sacrifice of firstborn sons — because nothing screams love and justice like child sacrifice.

This isn't morality. It's a Bronze Age power structure wrapped in divine justification.
