Back in early September it was raining with a cool wind out of the east, and I credit a lot of the success I experienced to the weather. I feel that when fishing during the day most fish bite the worst when it's bright and sunny. I feel that your best chance to experience good fishing during the day, especially when surfcasting for #stripers, will typically occur during windy and rainy conditions. ⁠

A moderate wind can also bring #stripedbass that were holding deep, into shallower areas where they're possible to catch from shore. The wind can also create a chop on the surface of the ocean, which I feel probably oxygenates the water, and energizes the fish. Striped bass will often be much more reluctant to bite on flat calm days, but they can really get chewing when its rough.⁠
