The Gypsy & The High Level Hornpipe

Описание к видео The Gypsy & The High Level Hornpipe

'Gypsy Hornpipe' is associated with the Irish accordion player, Jerry O'Brien who arrived from Kinsale (Ireland) to Boston in 1921. Jerry became one of the most influential accordion player/teacher/author for Irish American music for his time. 'High Level' is a well known hornpipe and has been recorded numerous times. But we got the inspiration from Jerry O'Brien's most famous student, Joe Derrane's recording from 1948.
Joined here by Mayo Yanachi on the fiddle. I am playing on a five voice D/C# Walters. This accordion has 'Emerald Isle Orchestra' and 'Myles O'Malley's Orchestra' engraved on it. You can really hear this box on 'Kildare Fancy/Boys of Blue Hill' by Myles O'Malley's Orchestra, recorded in 1937.
