Composer’s note:
In "Free Subject," we follow eight art students on a journey where creativity meets life, and life becomes art. Eight unique individuals pushing the boundaries of freedom in a city grappling with financial crisis and outdated norms.
The film's wealth of characters and situations dictated a diverse musical world from quite early on in the process. The sonic palette moves through various musical styles, capturing calm night drives, dreamy nightclub performances, party scenes, and nervous breakdowns, creating a diverse and dynamic sound experience.
This soundtrack couldn't include every piece of music composed for the film as the lack of imagery could make some compositions sound out of context. The concept behind this release is to recreate the atmosphere and reflections of the film on society and freedom with a selection of musical pieces. We aim to create a sonic environment where the listener can have an emotional journey similar to the one of the film’s characters.
