Richa Kar, born on July 17, 1980, is the daughter of a Tata Steel employee and a homemaker. After gaining experience in the IT sector, she pursued a master's degree from SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in 2007.

Her roles at Spencers and SAP in retail consultancy provided her with insights into the lingerie market, particularly the challenges faced by Indian women regarding comfort and privacy in underwear shopping.

Recognizing a significant market gap, Richa decided to launch her own lingerie brand, Zivame, despite initial disapproval from her parents. Her father expressed doubts, and her mother was embarrassed by the idea.

However, after Richa's persistence, her mother became supportive and even invested her savings, helping Richa raise Rs 35 lakhs to start the business in 2011. Zivame, meaning "radiant me," quickly gained popularity, offering over 5,000 designs and catering to diverse needs.

Richa expanded Zivame's reach by enhancing its online presence and introducing Zivame Studios in 2016, which combined online convenience with in-store experiences, particularly benefiting women in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

A major milestone occurred in 2020 when Reliance Retail acquired Zivame. Although Richa stepped down as CEO in 2017, she remains on the board and retains her equity stake, with her net worth estimated at Rs 749 crore, according to The Economic Times.
