ঘোষণা দিয়েও রাজধানীর জিরো পয়েন্টে কর্মসূচি পালন করতে পারেনি আওয়ামী লীগ। পুরো এলাকা বৈষম্যবিরোধী ছাত্র জনতা ও বিএনপির দখলে ছিলো। গুলিস্তান এলাকায় দাড়াতেই পারেনি ক্ষমতাচ্যুত দলের কর্মীরা। তবে, ছাত্র জনতার হাতে গণপিটুনীর শিকার হয়েছে অন্তত ২০ আওয়ামী লীগ কর্মী। ছাত্র নেতারা ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন, বিচার না হওয়া পর্যন্ত আওয়ামী লীগকে এদেশে রাজনীতি করতে দেয়া হবে না। কেউ পুনর্বাসনের চেষ্টা করলে প্রতিহত করা হবে।
Despite the announcement, Awami League could not hold the program at the zero point of the capital. The entire area was occupied by anti-discrimination student mob and BNP. The workers of the ousted party could not stand in the Gulistan area. However, at least 20 Awami League workers were beaten up by the student crowd. Student leaders have announced that Awami League will not be allowed to do politics in this country until the trial. Anyone trying to rehabilitate will be resisted.
