Caesarean – Difference Between Elective and Emergency C Section by


An elective C-sectionor planned or scheduled C-section, is a surgical procedure in which a baby is delivered through an incision made in the mother's abdomen and uterus. This type of C-section is prearranged and typically occurs before the onset of labor. It may be chosen for various reasons, such as maternal preference, medical conditions that make vaginal delivery risky, or previous C-section deliveries.


LCSC is the medical terminology used for lower segment caesarian section. So the lower segment caesarian section abbreviation is LSCS. LSCS caesarians are cesareans . Why they are called as lower segment is because we are cutting the uterus and the other layers of the uterus in a transverse incision, that is the pfannenstiel incision.
