HARVESTING AND COOKING LESSER YAM (Tam - is or Tugi) Root Crop

Lesser Yam (Dioscorea esculenta) is known as Tugi in Tagalog and tam- is in Ilonggo. The stems of this plant are round and thin, with big, black compound spines and the leaves are soft, heart- shaped.


The yams are also surrounded by its verry Sharp spiny roots, which you can see on this video , that make it difficult harvest
