Ep18 Chuquicamata mummified copper miner, copper horse shoes, huge copper mine

From the Codelco company town of Calama to the huge open-cut copper pit of Chuquicamata, where the mummified body of a 6th-century Atacameño copper miner was discovered in 1899. The huge pit, one of the largest in the world, has been supplying high grade copper ore to world markets since the Guggenheim brothers brought in steam shovels surplus to the construction of the Panama Canal. Then I head southwest - to Chacabuco, formerly a Chilean concentration camp.
