I don’t know who needs to hear this but exercise postpartum is NOT about “bouncing back”, it’s about preventing & managing common belly + pelvic floor issues!🤯⬇️

YES, I did this after my c-section too but even more gentle and laying on back! The VBAC is a much faster recovery typically BUT don’t compare yourself. We all heal differently and at are own pace. The point is not everyone needs to wait to start pelvic floor PT until 6-8 wks!🤯

I started 6 hours pp & doing this daily even before kids and it helped heal my IBS, ulcerative colitis, hypertonic pelvic floor, AND changed my life!🫶

Did you know FORCEFUL EXHALATION during diaphragmatic breathing is critical for CORE and PELVIC FLOOR activation to help prevent and manage issues like constipation, hemorrhoids, fissures, fecal smearing, bloating, back/pelvic pain, diastasis, prolapse, and weak lower abs causing a lower belly pooch/hang?! HOW?🤯⬇️

Normally, relaxed expiration (exhaling) is done by the passive recoil of the diaphragm but during forced expiration, the air is driven out as the diaphragm is forced upwards due to a rise in intra-abdominal pressure caused by contraction of the abdominal muscles! Yes! You can breathe your way to more toned abs and a stronger pelvic floor!🧐

The diaphragm plays a critical role in core/trunk stability and respiration by controlling intra-abdominal pressure! That’s why it’s super important to practice diaphragmatic breathing! Learning to inhale and exhale properly decreases the stress on the spine through a co-contraction with the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles! This is why I spend so much time with my patients focusing on CORRECT diaphragmatic breathing❗️

It’s never too late to start so if it’s been years since your kids or injury, don’t wait to start healing your belly and pelvic floor b/c most issues get worse over time!💕
