On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese navy attacked Pearl Harbor, launching aircraft from six carriers in a devastating strike. The very next day, the United States declared war on Japan — and just months later, at the Battle of Midway, the tide began to turn.

American strategists quickly realized that victory in the Pacific would depend on aircraft carriers — massive floating airbases that could project power deep into enemy waters. In just three years, the U.S. Navy built the largest fleet of aircraft carriers in history, expanding from 9 to 95 of these steel giants.

They became the backbone of America’s strategy, fighting in every major battle: Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, reshaping naval warfare forever. Among them stood one of the greatest megastructures of WWII: the USS Midway, a colossal aircraft carrier capable of carrying 120 planes, as strong as a battleship, and destined to be known as the King of the Pacific.

This documentary reveals how the U.S. transformed naval engineering, built steel monsters at a frantic pace, and changed the outcome of WWII through innovation, power, and sheer industrial might.
