In this video I want to share just a few simple ways you can save energy inside your home during the hot Summer months.
Some of these ideas are listed below by rooms.
Bathroom:
Shower as cold as you can stand it
Always use the vent when showering or taking a bath
Install LED lights
Keep shades closed
Bedroom
Close all window coverings
Install LED lights
Living area
Use ceiling fans when people are present
Install LED lights
Kitchen
Use cook top / oven as little as possible
Cook outside when possible
Run dishwasher at night & use "dry on cool" cycle
If you have a ventahood, and it exhausts to the outside; USE IT!
Install LED lights
Laundry
Use cold water when possible
Dry on "air only" setting, then hang up to dry (preferably in a garage)
Install LED lights
Install a ceiling fan
In General
LED lights are MUCH cooler!
Avoid standing water (sink, tub, etc)
No candles (Fire = Heat!)
Change filters on inside AC unit often (~30-45 days)
Point blinds in correct direction to keep light out
Outside - keep debris (or anything blocking) away from your AC unit
When Box Fans are used in an unconditioned space, point them in a way that exhausts the hot air out of the room
