Hornsby is located on the North Shore about 36km from the city and about 45 minutes drive. The council of Hornsby is the Hornsby Shire.

Hornsby today remains a very busy commercial district which has always been. The area around Hornsby, Waitara and Asquith have grown over the years. With once houses now replaced with Units.

Hornsby has two sides split by the Hornsby Train station and rail line. To the west side of the station you have a small town centre which has allot old shop fronts along with Hornsby Swimming Pool, Hornsby Tafe, and a Police station, a cinema called Odeon and Hornsby RSL.

On the other side you have Westfield Hornsby which was knocked down in 2000 and rebult and open up in 2001. Which has over 300, 3 major supermarkets 2 asian supermarkets and 5 major department stores.
