This session explores the challenge faced by the research community to respond to and maintain impact in a ‘post- truth’ society. The need for relatable and translational research is greater than ever since the term ‘post-truth’ became word of the year in 2016, along with a decline in public trust of institutions and anti-science movements fuelled by climate skeptics and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. What do we need to do differently as researchers seeking to influence policy and politics in the post-truth society we find ourselves in?
