Sometime from around February - May 2013, I had the opportunity to play with a band called Nightmute. The band featured me on keyboards, brothers Aaron Ficchi (vocals) and Josh Ficchi (drums), Sur Keath Moon (bass), and Shawn Bann (guitar). I joined the band sometime after it formed up and I was the second keyboardist for them I think. Because I joined after the band formed, they already had quite a few songs written. As a result, I was not involved in the song writing process of the overall structure and tone of the songs that were eventually released. After going back and forth with Shawn about the music, they decided they wanted to use my synth skills on the songs. For roughly three months, we all played together. We all did so well together doing rehearsals, it was decided that the EP needed to be finished and my keyboard skills would be a great fit. Shawn came in with his recording gear in the rehearsal space and recorded my keyboard parts to all the songs that got released on the EP that same day. The only one I had little issues with was this song, Forever Pretenders. I thought it was a decent song, but it was just playing it was a bit difficult for me. Eventually, I got it down during the final take, but this track was ultimiately not used and included on the final EP tracklisting.

I decided that it's time for the world to hear this song, finally. Looking back now, I don't think it's bad at all. The keyboards I played on this track really do shine on it.

I dedicate this upload to Shawn. He sadly is no longer with us, but his legacy in the talents he had in media and let alone his passion in music will never be forgotten - at least by me and all those that knew him. RIP Shawn.
