Don't even remember recording this mix, totally forgot about it but just recently found it on the computer. Think it was a little practice set for a gig at Drumology in Belfast that I was getting ready for. Somebody recorded some footage from that gig actually:    • Jim Morton @ Drumology 7th July 2012

At the time, say going back about ten years now, Drumology was the main DnB night in Belfast. Its an old mix, so done on the vinyl and the 1200's, didnt even own CDJs back then! All of the tracks are more on the techy side of Drum and Bass Jungle. The first track is by Fractue and Neptune, I remember they done a production tutorial video about how that track was made on Organic Beats (    • Fracture & Neptune Part Two   ).

Was getting into production more back then so watched a lot of those production videos to learn. Had a real respect for the production and the sound and always used to wonder and ask how they made the beats and bass and atmospheric sounds. A lot of that questioning in a way helped my own production efforts. Think it was a slightly different time in terms of production knowledge. Would say that there was more of a mystery surrounding the production techniques back then. Now its different, there is so much information online on how to make music and so many samples to get you started. Its brilliant there are loads of resources now to help producers learn the craft, but if everything is easily available does it mean that artists bypass the trial and error stage of learning to make music? Think there is a lot to be said for that experimental process. Have a good day and enjoy the mix. All the best. Jim
