Will and Power of Attorney: The Basics

The Will, the Power of Attorney and the Representation Agreement are the main legal estate documents that every Canadian should be familiar with, and all 3 documents should be part of your Estate Plan.

✔️ A will is a legal document that states how you want your estate assets to be divided once you die.

✔️ A power of attorney is a legal document that you sign to give one person, or more than one person, the authority to manage your money and property on your behalf. This person does not need to be a lawyer.

✔️Representation agreement is a legal document which allows individuals to plan for the possibility of future incapability. It allows an individual to name another person to manage their health care needs in the event they are not able to do so on their own.
