In November alone, BYD registered 21,133 new vehicles across Europe—just behind Tesla’s 22,801 units—but that marks a massive 222 percent jump for BYD compared to the same time last year. Meanwhile, Tesla saw an 11.8 percent drop.

Looking at the broader picture from January through November, BYD hit 159,869 new vehicle registrations in Europe—a 276 percent increase year-over-year—compared to Tesla’s 203,382 units, which fell 28 percent from the previous year.

Inside the European Union itself, BYD's growth was even more dramatic, with November registrations up 235 percent and year-to-date numbers up 240 percent. In contrast, Tesla’s EU registrations dropped by nearly 39 percent for the year so far.

On top of that, BYD has launched its first Plug-in hybrid from the Yuan family—called the Atto 2 DM-i—exclusively in Europe, not China. This SUV could broaden BYD’s appeal, especially as European buyers show growing interest in New Energy Vehicles.
